Reincarnation is a term usually used for the belief that at death a person's soul, spirit or self passes into a new body and will continue to do so until it reaches the ultimate goal. It is sometimes also referred to as transmigration or metempsychosis. Pythagoras and the Neo-Platonists believed in reincarnation. Hinduism, Jainism, the Druze of Lebanon, the Yozãdãs of Iraq and some proponents of the New Age movement still believe in it.
The Buddha denied the existence of a soul that passes from one life to the next and thus his post-mortem concept is usually called rebirth to distinguish it from reincarnation.
